Just a quick, 33-minute jaunt south of Kingsland, Texas, in the Heart of Texas Hill Country, is a 137-acre wild animal preserve and zoo, aptly called Exotic Resort Zoo in Johnson City, Texas.  It is home to over 500 animals and 80 different species, and half of the wild animals in the park were once on the endangered animals list and near extinction.  Today, thanks to zoos and parks like Exotic Zoo Resort, many of these animals are thriving and multiplying and will be here for generations to come to enjoy!  Daily, guided tours are available 9 a.m., and the last tour of the day leaves at 5 p.m.

During the guided tour you’ll encounter animals with very different personalities, such as “Humphrey the Camel” and “Rusty the Buffalo,” – both come right up to the bus and eat out of your hand!

Can’t get enough in just one day?  Safari Cabins are available that sleep up to six with $10 per additional guest and includes a tour!   Cabins are equipped from microwaves, refrigerators, and coffee makers to full kitchens and enjoy spectacular views of the resort and several lakes that run through it, as well as pool with hot tub, outdoor game area with pool table, outdoor cooking area, and playscape for the kiddos!  Perfect for the whole family!

I recently returned from a trip here overnight with my three kids….we LOVED it!!!
